Opportunity 2028 is a United Way of Eastern Maine initiative, intended to convene stakeholders from Penobscot, Piscataquis, Washington, Waldo, and Hancock counties to collectively take action in order to create the change the community and our donors have asked us to lead.
Why Opportunity 2028?
We asked donors and community leaders what the most pressing issues facing our communities are, and we have incorporated the results of this survey into Opportunity 2028. The top three issues identified in our communities as the most pressing are:
↑ Basic Needs
↑ Substance Use Disorder
↑ Early Childhood Development
These issues are now the pillars upon which we have developed Opportunity 2028. We’re in the process of collaborating with our communities to set ten-year goals to achieve with the help of our partner agencies.
We just completed holding community conversations all over Eastern Maine. Based on the information we collected look for our Opportunity 2028 launch in March 2018. If you’d like more information or to sign up for our newsletter go to www.opportunity2028.org.
