“Strengthening Communities through Leadership” is a full day workshop hosted by United Way of Eastern Maine as part of their Opportunity 2028 Initiative. The goal of this session is to support strengthening the leadership capacity in our communities to address some of the most complex issues. This promises to be a refreshing workshop for individuals and teams that want to inspire and be inspired while strengthening their community. During the workshop participants will practice tools that serve to create focus and clear distractions. The session will also effectively position individuals in all sectors to work together by creating a cohort prepared to “Lead Differently” in our communities through establishing a shared foundation of leadership.
Individuals will gain insight into what makes them tick and how that can be used to focus and inspire. Teams will develop shared understanding and language that improve their work dynamics, communication and ability to achieve their goals. Whether you attend with a group or on your own you WILL come away with new ways of thinking about your own leadership, how you interact with others and how to fully execute on your vision and goals.
This session is geared toward both established AND aspiring leaders; individuals AND teams. We are seeking participants from all sectors- for profit, not profit, the faith community, education, government, community organizations etc. Participants at all levels are invited; CEOs, Executive Directors, management teams, administrators, front line staff, community members, entrepreneurs, educators, students etc. Anyone with a genuine interest in developing leadership skills is welcome to participate!
Our presenter, Chris Trout, has that rare ability to reach people through both head and heart. He moves effortlessly from foundational research (which somehow never feels “research-y”) to powerful stories that speak directly to what makes each person tick. Chris is able to push people beyond their comfort zone in a non-confrontational manner and the unique ability to connect with everyone in his audience. The shelf life of Chris’ insights is measured in years, not hours or days – and is evidenced in the words of audience members, clients, and readers.
During the course of the day participants will have the ability to
- Discuss and Explore foundational ideas
- Participate in exercises that allow practice of foundational concepts
- Participate in activities that support specific problem solving
