Chief Impact Officer

The Chief Impact Officer will provide leadership, strategy development, planning, execution, and accountability for UWEM’s Community Impact activities.  This position leads all aspects of our growing collective impact strategy from development to execution, which requires demonstrated experience building coalitions amongst subject matter experts, government agencies, institutional funders, and community-based organizations. The position requires strong writing and project management skills, experience in proposal writing and knowledge of local community issues. A focus on innovation, creativity, team work and problem-solving is expected to support the creation and implementation of plans to help UWEM be successful in achieving its mission.

Successful candidates will demonstrate at least 8 years of experience with community organizations, community planning or related human service fields. Director of Development & Community Engagement

Imagine if your work could positively impact the lives of tens of thousands of people.  What if you were able to use your passion for building relationships to generate financial resources that allowed for the achievement of bold and ambitious community goals?  Goals such as moving 10,000 people out of poverty, eliminating deaths from substance use disorder and improving third grade reading scores by 10% by the year 2028.  Our community has asked us to lead a tall charge and we need the right person to join our team to help raise the resources necessary to make the vision a reality. If you are someone that is fulfilled by building something new through achieving ambitious goals, then this position will be right in your wheelhouse. 

United Way of Eastern Maine is hiring for the newly created position of Director of Development & Community Engagement to oversee our annual workplace giving program, as well as  strategically manage our donor relations and retention. The successful candidate will demonstrate a focus on creativity, team work and problem-solving to support the creation and implementation of plans to successfully achieve UWEM’s mission.  They will place a high value on professionalism and accountability. Our Director of Development & Community Engagement will have the ability to motivate and mobilize staff, volunteers, and donors to support the United Way of Eastern Maine’s mission and increase our investment in activities that support the community.

Business Development Manager

The Business Development Manager is critical to furthering United Way of Eastern Maine’s mission and increase its investment in activities that support the three Opportunity 2028 Bold Goals, a ten-year community change initiative set by the community and led by United Way of Eastern Maine: 

  • Meet basic needs and promote self-sufficiency for all 
  • Prevent, treat, and support recovery from Substance Use Disorder 
  • Ensure all children have quality early learning experiences 

The Manager will be responsible for overseeing components of new business development, which United Way is looking to grow significantly. The Manager is responsible for prospecting, developing and onboarding highly successful workplace giving programs throughout UWEM’s five-county service area. The Manager is responsible for development of new employer relationships, as well as, maintaining and enhancing existing relationships with employers in the region.
