Forever Fund
Making a planned gift to United Way ensures our tradition of caring will continue into the future. A gift can respond to a range of future needs - needs we may not be able to envision today; or the gift can address a donor's specific interest in the community. There are a variety of giving options that enable individuals and families to ensure a strong future for Eastern Maine. United Way will work with you on your planned gift. To learn more about your options for planned gifts, visit United Way of America's planned giving website or please call (207) 941-2800 and ask for John Kuropchak (ext. 200), President or Kate Beale (ext. 204), Vice President of Resource Development.
Planned Gifts Support The Forever Fund
The Forever Fund is United Way's permanent endowment fund. It is separate from the annual campaign and a gift to the Forever Fund is a way to make a lasting commitment to your community. The Forever Fund ensures that valuable services will continue to be available to those who need help in the future. Since the endowment’s creation, donors have notified United Way of planned gifts or estate plans that have been designed to benefit the donor, their families and the Eastern Maine community. They then become members of our Forever Fund of Eastern Maine.
An Example of A Planned Gift to The Forever Fund
It is no surprise to those who knew Katherine Dolley that she left a bequest for United Way of Eastern Maine in her will. Katherine's gift to United Way's Forever Fund was named the Dolley Memorial Fund in her honor. Katherine believed in community trusteeship-- the idea of taking responsibility for the well being of a community. As such, she was committed to many communities—the town of Bangor where she lived, the town of Brewer where she worked, the United Way family and the Maine Association of Broadcasters.
