The Camp Bangor Scholarship Program, funded by the Libra Foundation, provides positive summer camp experiences for eligible children enrolled in Bangor Public Schools grades four, five and six.

Camp Bangor provides summer camp scholarships up to $500. To be eligible, students must meet good citizenship guidelines as determined by their school principal and complete some form of community service. With the scholarship, students can attend any of the Maine summer camp(s) listed in the Camp Bangor 2009 Directory.

Since the summer of 2000, More than 7,000 Bangor public school children have enjoyed positive summer camp experiences throughout Maine with the help of The Libra Foundation funded, United Way administered, Camp Bangor Program. The Libra Foundation has infused the Maine Camp economy with more than $5.780,000 through the Camp Bangor program alone. Similar programs also run for children enrolled in Portland and Lewiston Public Schools.
