Everyday moments are learning moments. The United Way of Eastern Maine strongly supports early childhood education.  It does this with a focus on improving health care quality, promoting early literacy, increasing access to health/nutrition services, supporting parent education, improving teacher education, and enhancing community awareness of the importance of quality care and education.

United Way also supports after-school activities for school-aged youth.  It works to improve the quality of programs through training and support for out-of-school time specialists and strives to increase community resources and volunteerism for these important programs.  The United Way is a strong advocate for children and youth within the community, working in partnership to make lasting systemic changes.
