Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) Eligibility
For the third year, trained volunteers are offering free tax preparation services to low to moderate income individuals throughout Eastern Maine. Beginning February 2, 2009 trained volunteers will be in select libraries, town halls and agencies across the region helping people to get their taxes filed, maximize the refunds they receive, quickly and at no cost.

The Creating Assets Savings and Hope (CA$H) coalition in Eastern Maine is a group of more than 20 organizations. CA$H is working to ensure everyone in need in our region is able to get their taxes filed at no cost and can get the money mangement tools to meet their financial goals. CA$H hopes to increase the number of eligible low-income workers that receive the Earned Income Tax Credit of up to $4,824. Thousands of eligible households in Eastern Maine currently do not receive this credit.
With CA$H's FREE tax preparation and electronic tax filing, families can get their FULL tax refund – as much as $4,824 in refund monies – in as little as fourteen days with direct deposit.
